Welcome to Skiatook First United Methodist Church!

Resuming In-Person Worship

With the guidance of the Re-Launch Task Force, comprised of representatives from our Leadership Team, Worship Committee, and two medical professionals, we were pleased to resume meeting in person for worship on Sunday, June 7 at 10:30. Things continue to feel and look very different, but we are so pleased to be able to be together in the House of the Lord. We continue to encourage anyone who feels unsafe to stay home and worship with us online, but know that our doors and hearts are open to all. We continue to observe the following protocols, as suggested by our Re-Launch team, our Oklahoma Methodist Conference, and the CDC.

    · Each family unit or individual party of one must be seated at a distance of 6 feet apart. We will have pew spaces clearly               marked, and every other pew will be utilized to maintain social distancing.

· We are asking every person in attendance to please wear a mask. This is for the safety of others. If you have medical issues that prevent this, we hope that you will remain in the safety of your home and sacrifice for the sake of others. We will have masks available at church for those who need one.

· While we do have congregational singing, we remind everyone to  Music will be provided via video and special solo or ensembles.

· There will be no Sunday School classes for now. We will have in-person worship only at 10:30 a.m. and will either stream on Facebook Live or post the video online to the church's Facebook page.

· There is no children’s church or nursery. Children may sit with family, and Miria will have activities for them. But for now, until we implement phase 2, no kid’s activities. We understand this is a hardship for young families and we wish it were different.

· Attendance will be taken for purposes of contact tracing in the event someone is later diagnosed as Covid positive.

· Small group ministries may resume, but must have less than 10 in attendance, and must maintain social distancing of 6 feet. Please contact the church office to schedule time for your group to meet in the large classroom.

· Ushers will seat folks as they walk in, to ensure distancing, and maximize use of limited space.

· Spaces will be sanitized after each use.

· Worship will continue to be posted online for viewing.

Winter Weather & Church Closings

The months of January, February, and March are the months each year we seem to get the most severe weather.  During the week, we will follow the lead of Skiatook Public Schools. If they are closed, then the church will also cancel regularly scheduled activities.
Sunday morning cancellations will be determined by 8:00 a.m.   Please check e-mail and Facebook for the most reliable info. We may or may not be able to get it on the local news, though we will make every effort. Safety is of our utmost concern.

Yoga Classes each week

We offer several different levels of yoga at different times each week.  Classes are led by Beverly Dollar, who has had years of experience.  She would love to have you join the group whenever your schedule permits!  Level 1 yoga is offered at 11:00am on Mondays and Wednesdays.  Level 2, an intermediate class, is offered at 6 pm on Thursdays.  Chair yoga (back, neck, arms, and torso strengthening) is offered with call-ahead notice at 4:30 on Thursdays.  The Friday class, also level 1, begins at 10:00am.  Classes are $5.00 each.  Bring a yoga mat and a bottle of water.  First time attenders can register when you arrive.  Classes are held in the main building of FUMC Skiatook in room 103.
