Welcome to Skiatook First United Methodist Church!

Due to health concerns, the quick spread of COVID-19, and the guidelines given to us by the CDC, the White House, and our own Oklahoma Annual Conference, we are suspending in-person worship until further notice. We will continue to monitor the situation as it changes. I will deeply miss worshipping with you in person. In fact, as I entered the sanctuary this week, I cried at the thought of not meeting together.

But this gives us an opportunity to be in relationship with each other in a different and new (for us) way. We will be live streaming beginning Sunday, March 22nd at 10:30 a.m, our usual time, using Facebook Live. It will be a modified, shortened worship service, and I hope you will choose to worship with us that way.

While you will need to go to Facebook to view the program (either at the time or later at your convenience) those people who do NOT have a Facebook page WILL BE ABLE to view the service without signing up for Facebook.

If you do not have a Facebook page, you can simply click the following link, and it will take you right to the church's FB page, where you will be able to scroll down the page to view the service.

Additionally, for those members who do not have internet capabilities, I will send out a self-guided worship document based on our Sunday service each Monday.

We can still be the church, even during this time of crisis. It is an opportunity for us ALL to learn new things, and grow in faith. Lastly, I leave you with Paul's message to the Hebrews:

"And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching." Hebrews 10:24-25.

Be blessed, be safe, and be kind.

Pastor Susan

Be the Church

The work of the Church continues even as we find ourselves in strange times. We have an opportunity to be in service, and in relationship with others in creative and different ways.

In this time of "social distancing", let's reach out in the ways we can. Make a phone call to someone you didn't see on Sunday. Send a card or letter to one of our folks who doesn't get out much. Drop off a meal, some treats, (or a roll of toilet paper) to a neighbor. Facetime a friend. We may be isolating ourselves in some way, but we do not have to lose our connections to one another. In fact, we need those connections more than ever. This is an opportunity to be kind to the store employees, tip extra to the drive-through restaurant workers, and pray for those who will experience financial hardship as a result of lost wages. Be sure and say a prayer for all of our folks in the medical community as well, and don't forget your local church staff!

Remember, this is Lent. We are actually living Lent right now, by "giving up" and sacrificing for others. (this quote from Chet Pritchett). Please call or text us here at the office if there is anything we can do!
Be at Peace!
